The Blind Spot of Modern Governance in the Age of AI

You’ve built the programmes. Implemented the tools. Trained the teams.

And over time, a seemingly logical assumption has embedded itself into your operating model: if the system isn’t raising a flag, there is no risk.

EQS Connect London is an exclusive forum — co-hosted with Meta at their King’s Cross headquarters — for senior leaders in compliance, data privacy, and sustainability who are ready to confront the critical questions and leave with concrete next steps.

Are your systems genuinely helping you identify risk early — or are they simply managing what you already know?

One event. Three acts.

The day is structured as a deliberate progression — from confidence to challenge to concrete action.

01
Comfortable

AI as co-pilot supporting compliance professionals — augmenting capacity and surfacing insight.

02
Uncomfortable

Shadow AI, ungoverned automation and the hidden risks of unchecked automated decision-making.

03
Actionable

How to design meaningful human oversight into automated compliance workflows — deliberately, not by default.

Governance Under Pressure in the Age of Intelligent Systems

The world your governance structures were designed for no longer exists in the same form. Sanction regimes can shift with very little notice, while different jurisdictions pull in opposite directions. AI systems are making — or influencing — decisions at a speed that overwhelms traditional oversight mechanisms. And geopolitical pressures are placing enormous strain on data privacy frameworks and sustainability reporting.

EQS Connect is not a technology conference. We want to spark a debate about human judgement and strategic leadership — and about what a modern compliance function must look like when the rules of the game have fundamentally changed.

To do this, we bring together an exclusive circle of experienced practitioners from across the UK and Europe at Meta’s King’s Cross headquarters — one of Europe’s most forward-thinking technology campuses — for direct, confidential exchange.

Central to our agenda is a keynote exploring how compliance leaders can move beyond measuring activity and start measuring impact. We’ll examine what genuine human judgement looks like in an AI-augmented world — and why that capability may be your most valuable competitive advantage.

Who You’ll Hear From.

Practitioners and decision-makers selected for their willingness to challenge — not repeat — the conventional wisdom around compliance and governance.

We’re finalising our speaker lineup. Register your interest below to be notified when speakers are announced.

An Afternoon with Substance.

A curated programme for senior leaders in compliance, data privacy, governance, and sustainability. Expand any session to read more.

First Half  14:00 – 15:40
14:00 Arrival & Registration
14:15 Welcome & Opening Framing
14:25
Keynote: From Compliance Activity to Compliance Impact

The opening keynote challenges the audience to move beyond compliance as a tick-box exercise. It explores how forward-thinking organisations are turning regulatory requirements into a source of competitive intelligence, operational resilience and stakeholder trust — reframing compliance outputs as inputs to strategy, not just risk mitigation.

15:00
Session 1: The Judgement Imperative Governing AI in a Human-Led Compliance World

This session explores AI as co-pilot — supporting compliance professionals by augmenting capacity and surfacing insight. It positions AI adoption as a comfortable, managed evolution rather than a disruptive threat, examining how organisations can build confidence in AI-assisted compliance. Key focus: where professional judgement remains irreplaceable and how to protect those decision points.

15:40 Networking Break
Second Half  15:55 – 18:00
15:55
Session 2: From Data Overload to Defensible Decisions

This session confronts the uncomfortable reality: shadow AI is already operating inside most compliance functions. It examines ungoverned automation, the hidden risks of unchecked automated decision-making, and what happens when data volume outpaces human capacity to review it meaningfully. Focus areas: defensibility when challenged by regulators or courts, and practical approaches to prioritising signal over noise.

16:55
Session 3 (Workshop): The Human Budget Designing the Human–AI Boundary

Each table receives a set of ‘Human Tokens’ — representing finite human attention and resource. Groups must decide where human involvement is non-negotiable versus where AI can run autonomously, mapping their compliance workflows and presenting allocation decisions to the room. The plenary debrief surfaces shared themes, risks, and actionable frameworks to take home.

17:45 Workshop Synthesis & Closing Reflections
18:00 Networking Drinks

A focused afternoon of expert insights, thought-provoking debate, and a closed-door working session in the heart of London.

The programme is tailored to the real liability risks and decision-making challenges facing CCOs, GRC Directors, DPOs and General Counsels in 2026. Our goal: you leave not with a set of slides, but with concrete frameworks for action.

The format is premium, interactive and peer-led — practical exchange over broadcast. No vendor pitches from the stage.

Thank you very much for the conference, it was very interesting and a lovely moment of sharing. If you’re looking for speakers to share experiences at a future event, my background within Thales and Hitachi might be relevant. Looking forward to further discussions.
