Terri Carmichael Jackson

Executive Director | Women’s National Basketball Players Association

Terri Carmichael Jackson is the Executive Director of the Women’s National Basketball Players Association. She leads WNBPA board relations, the group licensing program, labor matters generally and collective bargaining negotiations, specifically. These responsibilities require her to be a good negotiator, creative marketing consultant, listener & problem-solver and all-around fixer. She believes in servant leadership and knows that “in order to lead you must first serve.Terri reports to the players and understands that it is a privilege to hold this position.

Passionate about her advocacy work and higher education, Terri created and previously taught the course “Women in Sport” at American University, Trinity University, University of the Incarnate Word and Tulane University. She now is a member of the University Miami Law School Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Advisory Board and adjunct faculty where she teaches a short course and directs an internship/externship program. In celebration of the WNBPA’s 25th anniversary year, she was instrumental in and executive producer of the documentary “Shattered Glass: A WNBPA Story.” (Streaming on TUBI)

A native of New Jersey, Carmichael Jackson earned her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and her Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University. In 2020, Jackson was featured in Sports Illustrated’s “The Unrelenting,” on the most powerful women in sports. She is a 2022 Sports Business Journal Power Player. And Terri has been recognized by her alma mater with two awards of distinction: the Samuel A. Halsey Jr award for service to the Georgetown community as well as the Paul R. Dean Alumni Award, which is given annually to graduates of Georgetown Law who have exhibited leadership to their alma mater and to the legal profession.

Carmichael Jackson is one proud mama. She has one son, Jaren Jr., a member of the NBA Memphis Grizzlies, Defensive Player of the Year (2022-23) and 2022 finalist for the NBA’s Kareem Abdul Jabar Social Justice Champion Award; and the NBA’s Community CARES Assist Award.

When she’s not working , Steph recharges outdoors—often found camping, biking, or snowboarding in the Colorado mountains.
